Forest – the Almighty

Each year, a common theme links all the local events. It is also the occasion to reconnect the youth to its natural and cultural environment by addressing various essential topics. In previous editions, kids and teens from the Alps and the Carpathians have took part on educative activities related to different common themes such as: “Alpine Fauna and Climate Change”, “Myths and mountain legends” or "Water in all its forms".


"Forest the Almighty" is the common theme of the 9th edtition 2023.

Forests have many unique features and diverse functions that are often undervalued. “Forest – the Almighty” highlights all the functions, benefits, and advantages that the forest offers to society and nature. More than 40% of the Alpine area is covered by forests. Forests provide us with wood, fresh air and clean water; is a source for food, herbal plants / medicine; it serves as a carbon sink, protects us from natural hazards (rockfall and avalanches among others); includes a high variety of habitats for animals and plants and is an important place for human recreation. Let’s explore with the youngsters this multi-talent!
